The Hardest Of Jesus's Commandments
Jesus Christ, the greatest man who ever lived, taught alot of things to his disciples and Christians in general. His teachings are the most important commands that every Christian must obey and follow.
Lately the zeal to study and practice the teachings of Jesus Christ has been reignited in my heart because I've come to discover that most Church leaders today have simply ignored(consciously or unconsciously) the teachings of Jesus Christ and have instead chosen to preach doctrines that are subjective, heretical and stereotyped.
Therefore my next posts will center Largely on the teachings of Jesus Christ as found in the four gospels(matthew, Mark, Luke and John)
In the book of St. Matthew 6:25, Jesus Christ gave the following command "So I tell you, don't worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food, drink, and clothes. Doesn't life consist of more than food and clothing?". This command is to me the hardest(humanly speaking) of Christ's teachings. The reason I term it the hardest is because we can never obey the command unless our lives is under the total control of the Holy Spirit. How can someone decide not to worry about attaining the basic needs of life? We live in a world full of so much poverty and sufferings(esp. in Africa and Asia) that it is very difficult to obey this command( I'm speaking from experience) but there's good news for us.
Remember, Jesus Christ was teaching his disciples and the crowd that followed him this command and they were all Israelites. The Israelites were under Roman rule at that time and were also in bondage. They paid high taxes, most were poor and only the few aristocrats and nobles lived a pleasant life. Therefore, this command is as important to us now as it was in the time of the ancient Israelites. Jesus Christ knew what He was saying when He gave that command. Jesus Christ was born into a poor family but he never lacked and He wanted to share the secrets of abundance with his disciples and that secret is- don't worry.
How can a father, mother, entrepreneur, leader, pauper, student, widow, orphan, victim, refugee, disabled, convict etc eliminate worry from his/her life and obey that simple command? It seems like a tall order but it's very possible and I welcome you to join me as I undergo the journey and discuss the teachings of Jesus Christ.
In my next post I will be sharing my views on how to effectively this command of Jesus. I highly welcome your comments. God bless you.
