Now that we have done that lets delve into today's topic but before we continue I hope you have been following my other two series on sin.
Please if you have not read my other two discusses on it I would love for you to do so because it will give you a better understanding of this discuss. In our last discuss we talked about Abraham and his role in the reconcilation process God had begun from Seth to Noah and to Abraham himself so today we will begin the discuss on Moses and his role in the reconcilation process and we will also discuss him being an antitype of Jesus Christ. If you have been reading this series you will notice that I began my discuss from Adam to Abraham and now to Moses and the reason for this detailed explanation is to give you a complete and progressive narrative of this discuss called sin so as to enable you to fully comprehend the main discuss which we will soon get to.

So lets turn our bible to the book of Exodus 2:1-10. Please read it but if you do not have a bible you can just focus on my discuss. If we read the preceeding chapter, thats chapter 1, we discover that the Israelites had settled in Egypt under Joseph(who is another type and shadow of Jesus) and that generation had all died then a new king arose who did not know Joseph. This part of this verse has confused some people but I will attempt to explain to the best of my ability. Now according to the research I did I was able to gather this piece of information that may help to put to bed your confusion about that part.
Now the Israelite were a semitic speaking people and the king who made Joseph prime minister was from the same semitic speaking race as the Israelites but not the same tribe, that was probably another reason why he could have made Joseph his second in command. This semitic white skinned people had conquered Egypt and had driven the original inhabitants of Egypt who were probably brown skinned from their land but these aborigines(the original inhabitants of Egypt) returned and drove the semitic speaking relatives of the Israelites who had been ruling and had been friendly to the Israelites. That's why the bible writes that a new king arose who did not know Joseph.
The original brown skinned inhabitants had driven the former rulers away and had begun their own dynasty under a new king who did not know Joseph(probably also because the original inhabitants had destroyed every written record of old rulers who were racial relatives of the Israelites). Now you probably understand why the bible says "a new king arose that did not know Joseph".
Going back to our discuss, remember that I said that God had began a reconcilation process that eventually lead to the birth of Christ on earth, his ministry, death and ascension for our justification as believers. So this new king decides to murder the sons of the Israelites but God rescues them through the midwives( Exodus 1:15-22). The story of the Israelites and their bondage and deliverance is a long one so we will skip all that and go to the main part of our discuss.

In order to continue the process of reconcilation of mankind to Himself God chooses Moses as herald of the law which would be a type and shadow of what He had in plan for mankind (Hebrews 10:1) but God has to prepare His servant Moses for this burdensome task. Moses was the great grandson of Levi and the great great grandson of Jacob. Remember God had chosen the Israelites as a people who would give us a antitype of the new covenant God had for mankind. Remember what I said in my first post on this series "sin"; "when God wants to carry out a plan He does not look for crowd but looks for someone or a particular people that have found favor in his sight". The Israelite had found favor in God's sight and so God gives them the law as a type and shadow of the new covenant He had planned for mankind and chooses Moses as their guide or messiah just like Jesus is to us new covenanters (i.e people under this new covenant). I hope you are still with me. I hope you are being enlightened.
In order to prepare Moses for this task God sends Moses to take care of animals for forty years. This might seem surprising to you and you might disagree with me but let me explain. God had to train Moses for this burdensome task by letting him take care of flock (because Moses was going to be like a father to three million to six million Israelites) forty years (is that a coincidence or what) and he had to have certain characteristics in stalled in him before he could shepherd God's chosen people. As a shepherd in ancient time you needed to possess this characteristics:

God had to train Moses for this burdensome task by letting him take care of flock (because Moses was going to be like a father to three million to six million Israelites) forty years (is that a coincidence or what) and he had to have certain characteristics in stalled in him before he could shepherd God's chosen people. As a shepherd in ancient time you needed to possess this characteristics:
- A shepherd must be very patient.
- A shepherd must be very caring towards his sheep. They were his means of livelihood and the more caring he was towards them the more money he could make from their offsprings.
- A shepherd must be completely responsible for the well being of his flock.
- A shepherd had to be very persevering and long suffering in character.
From the above qualities we can see that God had to train Moses in the wilderness by taking care of his father in law sheep for forty years so that he would be able to lead the Israelite through the wilderness for forty years so it was not a coincidence Moses was tending his father in law sheep for forty years. God is not a God of coincidences, He plans every actions He takes, He knows the end from the beginning. While in the wilderness God gives Moses the ten commandments on Mount Sinai which can still be seen today in the middle east. It stills exist. God also gives Moses ceremonial laws and cleansing laws. ( Exodus 20:1-26 contain the commandments while the book of Leviticus contains the ceremonial laws and cleansing laws and other laws). Now in the old covenant in which Moses was a type and shadow of Christ we see traces of the new covenant which include the following:
- The old covenant involved the shedding of blood as remission of sins which was a type and shadow of what Jesus was coming to do. Leviticus 4:1-12.
- The old covenant involved a mediator between God and his people(the Israelites) who was Moses which is similar to Jesus Christ who is the mediator between us and God. Exodus 7:1-2, 1 John 2:1.
- The old covenant had a high priest who cleansed the sins of the Israelites through the blood of lamb and goats so they could be sanctified to God and this high priest was Aaron and his descendants. Exodus 28:1, Leviticus 9:22 but in our new covenant Jesus is our High priest. Hebrews 4:15.
- The old covenant had the first baptism. So baptism did not begin in the new covenant but in the law. 1 Corinthians 10:1-2.
- The children of Israel ate food from heaven in the old covenant which was called manna(manna comes from the word man-hu which means what is it?) John 6:49, Exodus 16:14-15 and in our new covenant we eat Jesus when we become born again(please if you do not understand read my post titled"I eat Jesus, spiritual cannibal). John 6:48-58.
- The children of Israel drank the spiritual water of life in the old covenant. 1 Corinthians 10:4 and we also drink our spiritual drink when we become born again which is the Holy Spirit, the word of God and Jesus Christ himself. John 4:14.
- The old covenant consisted of a tabernacle and later a temple in which God dwelt among His people but in our new covenant God dwells in us. Jehovah Elohim dwells in us. Isn't that amazing. 1Corinthians 6:19, Exodus 31:7-10, 1 Kings 5:5.
- In the old covenant the Israelites sojourned from the wilderness into their promise land so also we must sojourn in our wilderness which is earth and shine as lights and be as salts till we get to our promise land which is paradise and heaven.
- And finally(this is a revelation from God) in the old covenant the Israelites were baptized in the Holy Ghost fire just as the apostles were later baptized in the holy ghost fire in the upper room. The Israelites were baptized in fire when they were led by a cloud of fire, that was the Holy Spirit who is also God even though they did not speak in tongues. Remember one of the symbols of the Holy Spirit is fire. Exodus 13:21. Acts 2:3.
We will stop here for now and in my next post we will be dissecting sin itself through the revelations given to Apostle Paul by God. From our discussion you can see I am taking my time to give us a detailed explanation about the origins of sin so that in my last discuss when we will be answering questions on sin you won't be confused. We will answer questions like:
- (Q):Are believers sinners. (A): The answer is no. Believers are not sinners.
- (Q): Can believers go to hell. (A):Yes, believers can go to hell.
- (Q):Are believers holy, pure and righteous. (A): Yes, all christians are holy and righteous and pure.
If you are not a born again Christian I advise you to become one now by saying these words and believing them in your hearts as you say them: " Lord Jesus Christ I accept you as my Lord and savior. I believe that you died for my sins and arose for my justification and you are seated in heaven as the son of God. Lord Jesus be master of my life. Thank you Jesus Christ for saving me. Amen.
If you said the above words, I congratulate you for becoming a born again christian. Start attending a bible teaching church and serve Jesus Christ.
